Giles County Museum and Research Room

The Giles County Historical Society Museum has permanent and changing exhibits with more than 4,000 artifacts, photographs and documents relating to Giles County, Tennessee, in three rooms. Two rooms are only accessed using stairs. The Elizabeth Wade Craig Genealogical Research Room contains more than2,850 books, 1,370 rolls of microfilm and four filing cabinets of family files. Volunteer staff help with family genealogy, local history research and microfilm. Some publications, including the Giles County Historical Society quarterly bulletins, are available for reference and purchase. Located inside the Giles County Public Library. Admission to the museum and research room is free.

Interested in becoming a member of the Giles County Historical Society?

Annual membership is $20/year. You can pay by money order or check with your name, address, and email to The Giles County Historical Society. Membership includes four quarterly bulletins and an invitation to attend four quarterly meetings held at 2 PM on the fourth Sunday in Jan, April, July, and Oct at the Giles County Public Library unless otherwise stated in the quarterly bulletin.

HOURS OF OPERATION
Due to a volunteer shortage, the museum and research room will only be open Tuesday – Thursday 10AM-5PM, Friday & Saturday 10AM-1PM. Other times by appointment or by chance. All queries or requests for research must be made by email to [email protected] The first hour is free, additional hours billed at $10 an hour.
